Magwizi backs Chiyangwa

- Paul Mundandi Sports Reporter

MASVINGO ZIFA chairman Naboth Magwizi has hailed Philip Chiyangwa’s leadership and wants to see the flamboyant businessman given an extended term.

His comments come after the ZIFA president signed a Memorandum of Agreement in London on Wednesday with the Eden Sports Group.

The partnership will see an English Premiership team touring this country from next year and also help local players gain access into European clubs.

Marshall Gore, a Zimbabwean based in the United Kingdom, played a big part in the sealing of the deal.

Gore has been negotiating with players with Zimbabwean roots to commit themselves to the Warriors.

“Chiyangwa is the best leader for our football association and I just pray that he remains at the helm for a number of years.

“He is a very good leader who makes things happen.

“When we elected him he landed the COSAFA presidency and later on got another powerful post at CAF. We have won the COSAFA Cup under him.

“For the first time in a long period our Under-17 team took part in an international competition.

“We might have failed to advance, but just going there was an achievement because it was something that we had failed to do under the past leadership.

“I feel he must remain the ZIFA president for a long period,” said Magwizi.
