President’s youth intervention timely

-

EDITOR — I wish to thank the President for taking seriously the plight of youths who were retrenched without Cabinet approval.

Short of his timely intervention, 2 000 youths would have been added to the country’s unemployment statistics.

The youths are the pulse of the country as they are oozing with creativity. There is no reason to discard them before they reach their full potential.

The youths who have been offered a second lease of life should be diligent and reward the President’s good heart with hard work.

There should be systems to closely monitor these young workers so that they do not embarrass the President by being incompetent.

Indeed, the future lies in the youth and they need support. If the future is not prepared, it will be difficult for the economy to grow bearing in mind that we are living in a world governed by technology.

Our Government officials need to imitate the youths’ unity and co-ordination in taking part in developmental efforts.

Let’s groom, educate and guide the youths so that they carry the country’s good name from one generation to another.

We hope the future leaders will be as wise as President Mugabe who always has the nation at heart. Julius Muchere, Harare.
