Romans 13 vs 1; “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” HAVE you ever wondered how leaders come to the fore? In every area of our lives we are either led or there is someone in authority hovering over us?

Often times when we sit around and compare notes, our leaders bear the brunt of our jokes and our dislikes, we blame our failures and missed opportunities on them. We are always comparing, praying, wishing or plotting how they can be removed from their positions.

It could be your manager at work, or your supervisor who you so wish was not there. We question every decision they make and are always quick to oppose it on the basis that we know better and we could do better, if only our ideas could be taken and implemented.

We are never short of ideas and solutions to every issue. The most interesting thing is that in the midst of our cries and disapproval, have you ever wondered how one person can emerge among a million people or a group and stand out and become a leader? Is this done through human intervention and ingenuity, through someone sitting and plotting?

The truth that we sometimes want to run away from is that God ultimately appoints the leaders. He chooses, anoints and places. As hard as it may be to comprehend, that person who you totally dislike and wish the worst of, has been placed there by a greater authority than you and I can ever imagine.

Have you ever wondered how the biblical leaders, both good and evil, ended up in office? Did it happen as a result of their own means, through sheer conquest or did God allow it?

God in His wisdom identifies an individual and allows them the honour of leading. The ones who succeed are the ones that keep their ears attuned to the will of God and remain humble, knowing that their appointment is divine. Be blessed. REFLECTIONS OF A WORK IN PROGRESS ...
