Response to “$300m more bond notes to hit the market”

Monetary side interventions alone don’t work for cases like Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe needs a full partnership between the fiscal, political and monetary leaders. — Itai Zimunya.

*** Response to “Mujuru 1, Tsvangirai 0” The two MDCs have been struggling to find a way to get rid of their “surnames” for a very long time. They all know that Morgan has not much political capital left. Renaming themselves MDC-Alliance allows them to ditch the “surnames” and “dream” of a successor to Morgan. It also satisfies their handlers in the West into believing that the old MDC has come together again. That explains why Mai Mujuru, Mudhara Dabengwa, Mavambo and the NCA are out of the loop. The problem with all of these shenanigans is that they are built on an old fantasy. The MDC brand is not as appealing as its die-hard supporters would like to think both inside and outside the country. Its popularity peaked in 2008 and it has ever since failed to renew itself or endear itself to anyone. — George Shire.

Imagine a world where there is tolerance, diversity, tranquillity and forgiveness. If we can achieve that, we can achieve greatness regardless of political affiliation, ethnic differences and skin colour. — Grievance Sipikita, Harare.

*** The ruling by the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee to have Dynamos and Chapungu play the remaining minutes of their disrupted match sounds very fair to me. However, in cricket, matches that end prematurely are subjected to the Duckworth-Lewis method where the target is either reduced or overs to be played are reduced and set a target projector target. The same rule should be applied to soccer matches of this nature. DeMbare was leading 4-0 when the match was abandoned. To play the remaining 34 minutes sounds very fair, but at whose cost are the Glamour Boys going to travel to Gweru? What if some players who played in that match are now unable to play? The verdict says the same players that were fielded in the initial match are supposed to be involved. — Felix Zonke, Harare.

Response to “City cancels Mushore contract”

Impressive, very impressive, so residents will pay all that to an outgoing Town Clerk who satisfied all requirements, top scored in the interviews, and was forced to sit at home, while drawing the salary? It was during this same time that an acting Town Clerk was being paid. Now the process will start afresh, and we incur more recruiting costs. All this madness at the expense of the ratepayer. — TMM.
