Arsenal’s clearance sale

-

LONDON. — Arsenal are expected to sell players before they strengthen their squad in the remaining month of the summer transfer window.

The club has signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but will look to sell several players before they consider making any new signings.

Arsenal have 33 players in their senior squad and striker Lucas Perez is one of a number of players of interest to other clubs.

Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista is also free to leave Arsenal this summer if a club stump up £10m for his services.

Centre-back Gabriel (26) is wanted off the books.

Arsene Wenger needs to clear the decks before adding any new faces and the Brazilian defender is free to leave the Emirates.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are both ahead of him in the pecking order.

And youngster Rob Holding is next in line if either are injuried or Arsenal opt to play with a back three.

That means Gabriel will be looking on from the bench during large parts of the season.

And according to The Sun, the Gunners will sell the defender for £10m.

Valencia are said to be readying a bid.

Gabriel joined Arsenal from Villarreal in January 2015 and could welcome a return to Spain.

The Gunners paid around £11.3m for his services and want most of that money back.

However, they’ll take a slight hit and sell for £10m in order to ensure a deal goes through.

If Gabriel does leave the club, he may be joined by the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy and Perez.

Following their Community Shield win against Chelsea on Sunday, manager Wenger said: “The number (in the squad) is too high. We will let some players go.”
