Hearing God’s voice

-

PROVERBS 2 vs 1 - 5

“MY son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.”

We sometimes get clear indications of what we should or should not do, the Lord uses so many means to speak to us and to warn us about the things to come and how we should avoid them.

Despite the warnings and the gentle urging, through the gift of choice we remain adamant. Very often the ensuing result of our desire to go against God’s will is disastrous and comes with great pain and tribulation.

Little warnings impressed upon our hearts and reinforced through people, are easy to ignore. The Lord speaks to each one of us, although the clarity of this voice differs from person to person, He speaks. The children of Israel insisted that the Lord should provide them with a king, like the nations around them. Despite the Lord warning them that a king would bring them more pain than joy and that the demands of his monarchy would tax them, they insisted.

True to fate, despite His advice, they were given a king and thus the start of the rule of monarchs. History will prove that His advice was ultimately correct and that the decline of their reliance on God could be directly attributed to the direction their leaders would take them in. Be Blessed!
