Drugs for hospitals a welcome relief
EDITOR — We are glad that the issue of shortages of medicine will soon be a thing of the past.
Zimbabwean patients had lost confidence in the clinics, hospitals and pharmacies in this country.
Someone would prefer flying to other countries for medical attention, because there are times when one cannot afford to wait and be told that there is no medication for their illness. Time would have been wasted and the patient’s state would have deteriorated, putting them at risk of dying.
It is better for a patient to know that everything that can be done to save life has been done rather than dying because there was limited access to medicine.
The initiative made by Government of deducting five percent cellphone levy from every dollar worth of airtime every month has yielded good results.
When announcements of such changes were first made, they were not welcomed, but it is the nation of Zimbabwe that benefits in the long run.
Only the rich could afford medical attention and that aspect was a disadvantage to those who were sick, but could not afford the private hospital fees.
This development enables everyone to be catered for effectively despite their socio-economic position.
Our Government ought to be commended for that and has to keep on making initiatives that benefit the nation of Zimbabwe. Rachel Murimi, Via email.
