Coke Studio Africa show premières

THE much-anticipate­d reality musical show programme dubbed “Coke Studio Africa 2017” featuring collaborat­ions from different artistes across Africa premièred this week on ZBC TV.

The thrilling show started with local musician Mukudzei Mukombe better known as Jah Prayzah who collaborat­es with one of Mozambique’s finest musicians Mr Bow on a song titled “Amore”.

Speaking at a press conference held in the capital on Tuesday, Coca Cola Zimbabwe marketing activation­s manager Vee Chibanda said this year’s season is bigger and better and is packed with thrilling performanc­es.

“The time has come to see what our Jah Prayzah and other celebrated African artists have been doing in Kenya. The next 10 weeks will be filled with thrills, electrifyi­ng moments and fun as the show unfolds.

“This season of Coke Studio has become bigger after Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa merged into one, Coke Studio Africa.

“The merge saw a number of participat­ing countries increasing from 11 to 18 countries and this season will be broadcast in more than 30 countries across Africa,”.

In an interview,Jah Prayzah said he was grateful for the opportunit­y granted to him by Coca Cola Zimbabwe as it gave him a platform to network with other artistes and producers from Africa.

“I really thank the organisers for affording me such an opportunit­y. I learnt a lot of things from the team that l was working with and now I am linked to many artistes and producers across Africa. I was able to bring out Zimbabwean culture in our project,” he said.

Some of the renowned names in this season include Jah Prayzah,Khaligraph Jones and Band Becca from Kenya, Rayvanny, Izzo, Nandyfrom Tanzania, Nasty C, Busisiwa, Mashayaba from South Africa.

Key names of reputable producers such as Zimbabwean and South African based Darlington Chikwewo popularly known as Young DLC,Yuvier Pillay Nivdan aka Sketcky Bongo from South Africa ,Nahreel from Tanzania amongst others.

Coke Studio is a non-competitiv­e music collaborat­ion show which seeks to bring together and celebrate the diversity of African music and talent. It also gives upcoming artistes the opportunit­y to work with some of the best local and internatio­nal music and production talent.

Last year Zimbabwe was represente­d by contempora­ry musician Ammara Brown.
