Agric backbone of our economy

-

EDITOR — It is good that preparations for the next farming season have already begun, with Presidential inputs having been dispatched to numerous depots targeting to benefit 400 000 households.

The Presidential Inputs Support Scheme caters for maize, small grains and cotton farmers in a bid to ensure household food security.

The Presidential and Command Agriculture inputs have resulted in the bumper harvest being experienced this season, as such farmers should not take the initiatives for granted.

Farmers now need to utilise the inputs in boosting the agricultural sector and bringing about food security for the nation.

Agricultural officers and specialists have to educate farmers on the best farming methods so that no losses will be experienced.

Zimbabwe is well known for being the breadbasket of the region, as such the benefiting members should work hard in making sure that the country’s status quo is maintained.

Our economy is agriculture based, thus, we need to have a vibrant agricultural sector that will sustain the economy.

With Command Agriculture in place, along with the Presidential Inputs Support Scheme Zimbabwe will never have cases of hunger and starvation. Tambudzai Alfanet, Bindura.
