Be open to correction

-

PROVERBS 12 vs 1

“WHOEVER loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.”

To be rebuked and corrected is one of the most difficult things for many to accept, it’s difficult to willingly allow for criticism.

Many prefer the adulation that comes with having their egos worshipped. They live for the world and the praise of man. They will do and pursue anything that will make them shine individually.

At the slightest rebuke or correction they will coil in discomfort with a broken ego. It takes courage and conviction for one to stand up and say, “No this is wrong.” It is easier to smile and pretend or outrightly ignore that which we know is wrong and should be dealt with.

God places people, who are loving and genuine at heart in our lives to recognise our weaknesses, point them out, and correct them.

It’s only in gentle and loving rebuke that we see the error of our ways and the need to hear the Lord when He says, “Not on that path, but on this one.”

Are you struggling to receive the gentle rebuke of those that love you? Take a few moments to reflect on the words that have been said to you, is there any truth in any of what has been said? Is there room for improvement in your conduct and your general behaviour?

If you are the one, who has to rebuke someone else, have courage and proceed in love. REFLECTIONS OF A WORK IN PROGRESS ... For More Info: Visit our website: www.thefig-tree.org Email us on info@thefig-tree.org Catch us on Star FM, Monday to Friday at 0620hours.
