Rhinos back gaffer M’tizwa

- Tedious Manyepo Sports Reporter

THE Black Rhinos leadership have once again been forced to come out publicly to say they still believe in coach Stanford “Stix” M’tizwa despite the club losing seven games on the bounce.

There have been claims the club’s leaders have given M’tizwa a two-game ultimatum to stop the rot or face the chop.

Instead, Rhinos have cleared their backroom supporting staff of Gift Nyamande, Maronga Nyangela, Jack Mutandagayi and Britto Gwere because they don’t have the CAF A licences.

The clear-out was done ahead of their trip to Zvishavane, where they lost 0-1 to FC Platinum.

Black Rhinos secretary-general Camble Sithole said M’tizwa was now expected to name assistants of his choice before the team’s next game against Triangle at Rufaro.

“There has never been a fallout between the team and Stix (M’tizwa). Everyone at the club, as we have said earlier is behind him.

“So claiming that there has been a fallout between us is something else. I am not in the know of such a thing.

“What I can tell you is that all his backroom staff has been cleared and he will this week choose the people he wants to work with.

“The backroom staff he has been working with has only been assisting him in the background and we cannot say they have been dismissed as if they were playing any part on match days.

“The coach has basically been working alone since he was the only one with the requisite qualifications needed by the Premier Soccer League.

“So, as a matter of fact, we have given M’tizwa the green light to select the assistants of his choice and those people should be in before we take on Triangle this Saturday,” Sithole said.

The Zimbabwe National Army’s flagship football side have dismally failed to rediscover the form that powered them to the top of the standings in the first half of the season.
