Growing in the knowledge of God
Colossians 1 vs 9-10; “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may work worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
A STORY is written in the Old Testament where the king discovered scrolls that held the law of God. Upon this discovery, he asked his advisors to read the contents to him. As they did, he discovered how he and his people had departed from the will of God.
A very dear friend of mine celebrated the last day of high school for her son. With that came the completion of a progressive coalition of knowledge over time.
Over time, man has been exposed to considerable insight, new knowledge and amazing discoveries pertaining to the formation of the world and God’s wonderful creations. With every step we have graduated from one point of knowledge to another.
Yet with this knowledge many a doubt has been cast as to the existence of God rather than this journey being about the celebration of what we have discovered and learnt and giving glory to God as we graduate from knowledge to knowledge.
Instead, our knowledge of Him has become a curse rather than a blessing.
Like the king right at the beginning of the story and the young man who celebrates the end of a school process, we must also aim to use the knowledge God has given us to further discover Him. Our enlightenment must make us better and above all, it should strengthen our faith in the belief that God exists.
