ALL is set for the sixth edition of the Super Six Cricket Bash at Chegutu Country Club this morning.

The cricket tournament has attracted six teams, mainly from Mashonaland West, and will feature former and current players.

Chegutu has dominate the event since 2012 when it was introduced.

They have won three of the previous five encounters while Kadoma has won twice and it remains to be seen if a new champion will be crowned today.

The tournament will feature six overs for each side and according to event co-ordinator, Paul Mungofa, each side will field 11 players and a team will get a bonus of 10 runs if the two opening batsmen fall.

Two invitational teams Kwekwe and Rainbow from Harare will join hosts Chegutu, Kadoma, Chinhoyi and Norton, all from Mashonaland West, for the tournament.

“The idea of this Super Six Bash is to re-ignite interest in cricket, especially in Mashonaland West province.

“Cricket had gone down for some time but now the game is on the way up after Zimbabwe Cricket introduced the franchise system.

“As a way of getting more people involved, we have invited current and former players to play in this shorter version of the game.

‘’There are some players who are doing well after graduating from the province like Karl Mumba, Tarisai Musakanda and Neville Madziva who went on to represent the country,’’ said Mungofa.
