- Takudzwa Chitsiga Sports Reporter

THE second edition of the Cerda Passia memorial football tournament to be held at Rakodzi High School in Marondera this Saturday is expected to be bigger and better after the coming on board of Proton who will chip in with sponsorship.

The event is a brainchild of former Rakodzi students who will be having a get-together as well as honouring a former headmaster at the school.

Tournament organiser and Rakodzi High Old Student Association president, Shakeman Mapuranga, said the event was going to be bigger this time around as they have invited more teams.

“We started the memorial tournament last year in honour of our former headmaster who served the school for several years and this year it will be the second time.

“We have since decided to increase the number of participating schools as we started with two schools only, Rakodzi and Nyameni last year, but this year we are expecting six teams to turn up.

“The event will see four more teams coming on board after we successfully managed to host a small tournament that had our arch-rivals Nyameni last year.

“We have since invited other schools like Chitepo, UMAA, Marondera and we are looking forward to a competitive tournament.

“Our aim is to bring together former Rakodzi students together while remembering one of our former headmaster as well,” said Mapuranga.

Winners of the tournament will walk away with a floating trophy and medals.
