Pogba injury blow

MANCHESTER. — Paul Pogba left Old Trafford on crutches following Manchester United’s 3-0 Champions League win over Basel on Tuesday night after being forced off with a hamstring injury and could face long spell on the sidelines.

Pogba could be out of action for a “few weeks” after suffering a suspected hamstring injury that took the shine off Manchester United’s successful return to the Champions League, manager Jose Mourinho said.

The Frenchman, named captain for the night by Mourinho, had to be replaced in the 19th minute by Marouane Fellaini after stretching into a challenge with Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Fellaini was only passed fit for the game on Monday after missing the 2-2 draw with Stoke on Saturday with a calf injury, but he still supplied the opening goal.

happen. We are FC Bayern, that is not okay and we will talk about it,” added director of sport Hasan Salihamidzic.

Bayern played nearly 80 minutes against 10 men after Anderlecht had defender Sven Kums sent off just before Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty.

Ribery’s is just the latest Bayern star to show unrest.

Last week, Lewandowski criticised the club’s spending policy while Germany forward Thomas Mueller complained about starting on the bench in the 2-0 win at Werder Bremen a fortnight ago.

Defending champions Bayern have made a poor start to the new Bundesliga season as Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Hoffenheim left them sixth in the table, their worst position after three games since 2010-11. — AFP.
