Taylor, Jarvis return good news for Chevrons

-

EDITOR — The mooted return of pace bowler Kyle Jarvis and star batsman Brendan Taylor to the Chevrons fold should benefit our national cricket team. The two players, who play for Nottingham and Lancashire in the English county, are former Zimbabwe internationals who should add both skill and experience to Heath Streak’s squad.

Taylor made his name for our Chevrons when he captained the side with distinction and class as he is rightly regarded as one of the finest batsman in our Chevrons’ history.

He is fondly remembered for his heroics against New Zealand in 2011 when he hit back-to-back One Day International centuries. What a great feat! That was before he capped his illustrious international career with another fine century in 2015 against heavyweights India before joining Nottinghamshire in the English county.

In that regard, Taylor’s remarkable record speaks volumes as he also holds the record for having scored the most number of ODI hundreds for Zim- babwe.

What a valuable asset he will be if he rejoins our Chevrons! On the other hand, Jarvis made an instant statement on his debut against Kenya in an ICC International Cup at Kwekwe Sports Club, taking two wickets on his debut.

As such their return should boost and benefit our Chevrons in experience and class. Felix Zonke, Harare.
