Swallows move into second position
ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League team-of-the-moment Blue Swallows have moved into second place on the table.
Swallows dismissed Chitungwiza Municipality 1-0, courtesy of a goal by Edmore Chirape and leap-frogged Golden Valley who were beaten 1-0 by Trojan Stars.
Swallows have now managed 42 points but Clemence Zuze believes they need to continue working hard as only 11 points separate them with ZRP Morris who are in the relegation zone.
“We are not looking much at our current position as anything can happen,’’ said Blue Swallows coach Clemence Zuze.
“The teams at the summit of the log have some slight difference with those in the relegation, anything can happen.
“I think lady lucky is on our side these days and we are picking up crucial points, which is important.
“There are not many changes to the team but we have a mixture of juniors and experienced players. The technical team of Wonderful Rukuni, Emmanuel Soche has helped a lot.’’
Meanwhile, the ZIFA Northern Region secretariat have said they are yet to review events which led to the abandonment of the match between Karoi United and Chegutu Pirates after 25 minutes.
“We just heard that there was an abandoned match but we are yet to receive the full details. As a region we always call for fair play and we will wait to have the report,” he said.
A Central Region Division One side match featuring Makusha and Whawha was abandoned midway due to crowd trouble.
