Chingwizi schools get furniture

- Increase Gumbo in MWENEZI

SCHOOLS in Chingwizi have received furniture and food from Mwenezi East legislator Cde Joosby Omar, bringing relief to learners who were learning while seated on the floor.

Cde Omar donated desks to five schools in the area.

Speaking during a handover ceremony, Cde Omar said the delivery of the furniture and food was part of fulfilling his election promises.

“During my campaigning era, I promised that I was going to offer assistance to schools in Chingwizi and this is part of my promises which I am now fulfilling,” he said.

“I was touched by the plight of most schools in Chingwizi and I promised that I will use my coffers to change the plight of these pupils by providing furniture because most schools have their pupils learning while sitting on the ground.”

Cde Omar pledged to continue supporting the schools in the constituency by providing any other assistance.

Masvingo provincial education director Mr Zedious Chitiga hailed Cde Omar, saying his gesture would take the education sector a long way since most schools were facing various problems.

“We are so grateful with what the MP has done and we wish that we will continue to have legislators like him,” he said. “Many schools are facing problems in terms of stationery and furniture in schools, so we are grateful to Honourable (Omar) for what he is doing.”

Council of Chiefs president, Chief Fortune Charumbira, said Cde Omar’s programmes were in line with Government’s Zim-Asset economic document.

“Omar is a good example of a visionary leader,” he said. “There are few people like him who can churn out money from their own pockets to help others.”

The schools that benefited from Cde Omar’s benevolence were Munhundishe, Farai, Humelelo, Tangenyika and Masangula.
