Shabanie boss taunts Dynamos

- Paul Mundandi

SHABANIE Mine technical director Taku Shariwa has taken a swipe at Dynamos by describing the Glamour Boys as a team that lacks the experience needed to win the Castle Lager Premiership title.

The Zvishavane miners refused to be bullied by their illustrious rivals, who are yet to win a league match at Maglas since 2006, and scored in the last four minutes of regulation time to grab a point in a 1-1 draw.

Shariwa, who correctly called the identity of last year’s championship winners by giving the title to CAPS United about two months before the

Dynamos move three points clear at the summit of the log.

But just as the celebrations were about to start, friend-turned-foe Farai Mupasiri swung in a cross which was headed home by his younger brother Wilson with four minutes to play.

Lloyd Mutasa, however, refused to be drowned in the sorrows of the share of spoils saying there remains a big window of hope for them.

DeMbare are on 53 points, one better than Ngezi Platinum and FC Platinum.

“For me this is two points dropped, we had wanted to take maximum points in this match but we allowed what I call a end of the race, said he didn’t believe the Glamour Boys had the pedigree to be champions this season.

‘’The Dynamos players showed fighting spirit but they lacked the experience needed at such a level hence they conceded in the last few minutes,’’ said Shariwa.

“The team failed to hold on to their slender lead and they must know that the match only ends after the referee has blown the final whistle.

‘’It will be very difficult for them to win the championship.

“They can’t handle pressure and they are rigid. Their technical team failed to change the formation for the

soft goal to go in,’’ said Mutasa.

“But at the end of the day, I do not want to take anything away from the boys, they did very well and I am happy with their performance.

“We are not under pressure, we are still on top of the log standings and if we talk about pressure at the position we are in what will those who are below us say.

“We have not won here for a very long time and we came here determined to break that jinx but unfortunately it was never to be.”

The Glamour Boys, who last won a match against Shabanie Mine at Maglas in 2006 came into the duel determined entire 90 minutes .We respect them as big brothers but they need courage and the correct attitude.

‘’Next time they go into a match they must not be over-confident because it is 11 versus 11.

“As Shabanie we are mourning because it’s minus two points for us.

“I am grateful to the fighting spirit shown by my players as they were brave and gave the visitors a tough time.’’ DeMbare coach Lloyd Mutasa lost his cool shortly after the match and nearly slapped defender Lincoln Zvasiya who was at fault for the goal which the hosts scored.

“Go back and have a warm down

to break the jinx.

Former DeMbare defender William Mapfumo conceded a free-kick in the fifth minute when he fouled Tawanda Macheka at the edge of box and Mushure made no mistake with a curling effort that beat Petros Moyo hands down.

The Chinda Boys were refusing to be bullied in front of their vociferous fans, a swift counter attack four minutes after they had conceded was halted by an offside call on Tinashe Mupumha who had exposed Mushure’s defensive frailties.

Moyo was called upon to block a goalbound Masimba Mambare header.

Mapfumo then tested goalkeeper Tonderai with other players,’’ he shouted at Zvasiya.

‘’What are you trying to prove? You guys failed to defend the cross what, were you doing?”

A shell-shocked Zvasiya pleaded with his coach to cool down.

“Mudhara musadaro kani, musadaro,” said Zvasiya.

Dynamos had gone into the lead through a free kick by captain Ocean Mushure with the miners replying through a header from Wilson Mupasiri who connected a cross from his elder brother Farai.

DeMbare have now gone four matches without a victory.

Mateyaunga with a powerful header.

On the stroke of half-time Mambare had a chance to double his team’s lead but his effort flashed across the face of goal.

And, after the breather, Shabanie fought for their point and were rewarded when substitute Wilson Mupasiri scored for them late in the match.

“We started slowly and we were unfortunate to concede early in the game,’’ said Shabanie coach Takesure Chiragwi.

“We had told our players that they (Dynamos) have very good free-kick takers and we needed to avoid conceding free-kicks closer to our goal, unfortunately we did. “In the field of play we played better
