Herentals target record

- Takudzwa Chitsiga Sports Reporter

ZIFA Northern Region Division One’s newly-crowned champions Herentals have said they want to break the points record for a season in the league.

Flame Lily hold that record after accumulating 76 points in 2014 while Herentals are on 64 with seven games to play.

The side has seven games to play but team spokesman Oliver Chirenga said they will not do any favours to anyone.

“We are professionals and we need to break the region’s record and we will fight until the end. We are hard workers and the team needs to make a record of losing the lowest number of games as we are still on three defeats.

“The teams fighting relegation should prove that they deserve to be in the league next season so we will take all the games seriously and with the same approach,” said Chirenga.

The relegation puzzle in the Division is very tricky.

Just eight points separate second-placed Blue Swallows and Trojan Stars who are deep in relegation trouble on 14th place. Northern Region Fixtures
