First Lady hailed

- Manicaland Bureau

RESIDENTS of Da nga mv ura-Chikanga Constituency have hailed First Lady Dr Amai Grace Mugabe for remembering the needy following her donation of various goods.

The goods were distributed by the constituency’s Member of the National Assembly Cde Esau Mupfumi in Gimboki South on Sunday.

“I am here to handover various clothes donated by the First Lady,” said Cde Mupfumi.

“We know that things are tight, but we have a caring mother who is always there for us. We want to thank her for this donation.

“In Zanu-PF, we believe in walking the talk and as we go towards next year’s harmonised elections, we should deliver on promises that we made to the electorate.”

The donated goods ranged from shoes, handbags to clothes.

A resident, Ms Chipo Sithole, said: “We want to thank the First Lady for the donation. We are happy that our mother is working hard to empower us women and we should not disappoint her.

“We are now ready for the elections and we are waiting for the mobile registration teams to visit our areas for us to register as voters. We want to ensure that Zanu-PF wins in this area.

“Our MP is always with us and he has worked so hard for this constituency. Come 2018, Cde Isau ‘Hwindi’ Mupfumi will be in office.”

Cde Mupfumi urged the electorate to choose people who always delivered.

“You should wary of some people who will come here and try to hoodwink you with a few goodies,” he said. “If you vote these people into office, they will disappear and leave you without any representation.

“We want regular feedback meetings in the constituencies. Yes, you have shown your confidence in me and I promise to double my efforts in addressing most of the challenges you are grappling with, especially water and the issue of double allocation of stands.”

Cde Mupfumi implored Gimboki residents to give their new developer, Urban Development Corporation, a chance to finish the servicing of stands in the area.

“I heard that you are not happy with the work being done here by Udcorp, but you should know that this is a Government company and it may take time, but you will all be happy with the results,” he said.

“You should not be misled by crooks that ripped you off when this housing project started. Some of them just want your votes and will come up with sugar-coated promises. If you feel that you are not getting enough representation from your local councillor, primary elections are coming and you should chose a person you feel will work for you.”
