‘Give Buhera more resources’

- Nyore Madzianike Manicaland Bureau

BUHERA West legislator Cde Oliver Mandipaka has called for the allocation of more funds towards the development of Buhera District.

Speaking in his constituency recently, Cde Mandipaka said Buhera was lagging behind in terms of development due to poor resource allocation.

“I have a bias towards the Zimbabwe Republic Police that does not have vehicles to use,” he said.

“How can they fight crime when they are resource-strained like that?

“If you go around Government departments, you will realise that there is no transport. Agritex is also facing the same challenge. We expect Government to allocate resources to this district.

“Our duty as legislators is to have an oversight role of Government operations. Yes, people are hard working, but without resources their efforts will count to nothing.”

Cde Mandipaka said although Government availed funds for the construction of Marowanyati Dam, the project should be completed just like the Tokwe-Mukosi Dam.

He said the completion of the dam would see the district being turned into a greenbelt.

“We are quite happy and excited that Government finally heard our cries and provided funds for the resumption of work at Marowanyati Dam,” he said.

“Work is already in progress there and we expect more funds to be allocated to the dam in next year’s national budget. The project should be completed just like the Tokwe-Mukosi Dam. We want water for irrigation, for our animals, and business will thrive around Marowanyati Dam.”
