THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) has stepped up preparations for this year’s annual secretaries’ convention with a winners’ cocktail scheduled for Leopard Rock in Vumba at the end of this month.

The convention would be held from October 25 to 26, while the ZNCC 2017 provincial and national business awards winners’ cocktail would be at Holiday Inn Mutare on October 27.

ZNCC Manicaland and Chiredzi regional manageress, Ms Perpetual Guwila said they were expecting more than 30 secretaries and personal assistants to attend this year’s convention.

The winners’ cocktail is meant to bring together businesspersons, who excelled at this year’s business awards at provincial and national level.

Destiny of Afrika Network’s Reverend Obadiah Musindo, who won the prestigious Businessman of the Year Award, Mr John Chinonzwa, who was crowned Best Miner in Manicaland, Mrs Evelyn Madya, who scooped the overall best woman miller in Zimbabwe award, Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Mr Joseph Sanhanga, Mrs Winnie Marange, who came out tops in the Transport and Logistics category, youthful businesswoman Mrs Nomsa Chiadzwa are some of the winners expected to attend the winners cocktail.

“Preparations are on course and we are happy with the response that we have received so far. Several companies have shown interest,” said Ms Guwila.

“We are expecting a bigger and better event. We are expecting more than 20 secretaries from several companies.

“Despite liquidity challenges bedevilling most local companies, secretaries and personal assistants remain vital cogs in organisations. These conventions aim to ensure that they remain professional and dedicated to their duties such as dealing with the public.”

Ms Guwila urged secretaries, who are willing to attend this year’s event to visit the organisation’s Manicaland branch offices at Agribank building.

She said they would soon reveal the participation fees, which would cater for accommodation, transport, food, refreshments, conference material and entertainment.

Topics expected to be covered include, networking challenges for women, enhancing assertiveness skills in workplaces, deportment, improving communication skills and customer care.

Last year’s event, which was held in Juliasdale, ran under the theme: “Bringing Economic Transformation as administrators.”

The convention was spiced with recreational activities such as horse riding and mountain climbing as well as interactive workshops.
