ZIMBABWE Amalgamated Churches Council (ZACC) patron Cde Jimayi Muduvuri has urged church members to take voter registration as of paramount importance and eventually vote for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF in the harmonised elections next year.

Addressing thousands of people at Zviratidzo Zvevapostori Apostolic Church women’s congress at Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera on Saturday, Cde Muduvuri, who is the ZACC patron, urged the congregation to take part in next year’s harmonised elections.

“As the patron of churches, I urge you all to come together and register to vote in your numbers and you know the leader you want to vote for and that is your secret except God, leadership come from God,” he said.

“As 2018 approaches, we all know President Mugabe’s type of leadership, he is the leader who came from God.

“If it was not for him, we all would not be here, therefore, lets bear in mind his generosity.”

Cde Muduvuri said the church members would be exercising their constitutional right by registering to vote and eventually going to the polls.

He promised 3 000 chicks for the church to kick-start a chicken rearing project as part of ZACC’s women empowerment initiative.

“I want to assure you that the problems you have forwarded will be taken forward and there is nothing that President Mugabe’s Government cannot solve,” said Cde Muduvuri.

Addressing the same gathering, Zanu-PF Central Committee member Mr Saul Nzuma said he had seen it necessary to come and join the women’s congress.

He said the women, through prayer and their actions like registering to vote, were charting the way for development of the country.

“As members of the council, we have seen it necessary to be part and parcel of this congress so that we encourage them as a church to raise their petitions to God,” said Cde Nzuma.

“We want their queries to be solved for them to go and register to vote on the new Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) process.

“Previously, we used to meet with them (Zviratidzo Zvevapostori Church), helping them in developing their congress site. This is not the only church we are targeting. We are also going to meet with churches such as Mugodhi in Zaka and Chivi.”

Cde Nzuma urged women from Zviratidzo Zvevapostori to continue supporting President Mugabe.

“As a member of the Central Committee in the area, I want to say that as the 2018 harmonised elections are approaching, the church must continue to stand with Zanu-PF and vote for President Mugabe,” he said.

ZACC’s thrust is to unite all churches and encourage them to take part in the nation’s development.

Some of the church organisations that form ZACC include the Federation of Indigenous Churches of Zimbabwe, Association of Apostolic Churches of Zimbabwe, Union for the Development of the Apostolic Churches and the Zimbabwe Christian Development Forum.
