ALL is set for this year’s Zimbabwe Nationals to be held at Colcom Gym and 7 Arts Theatre this Saturday.

The tournament will see several athletes gracing the occasion with the main contest expected to feature Champion Chienderamwano, Blessing Nyapimbi, Isaac “Sugar” Chimuchenga and current Mr Zimbabwe Paul Goredema.

Goredema is basking in glory after he was placed third at the 2017 Arnold Classic where Chienderamwano did not take part.

Three-time champion Chienderamwano pulled out of last year’s contest due to a shoulder injury but has since confirmed he is coming back for this year’s edition of the contest.

Another veteran bodybuilder Masiye “Sergio” Suwali is hopeful he will do well at the same tournament where he will take part in the senior men bodybuilding contest.

The athlete is the current bronze medalist in the same tournament after coming up as the runner-up last year.

A winner of the Zimbabwe Classic and runner-up in the Zimbabwe Nationals, Suwali has been working hard for this weekend’s contest.

“I have always been in the sport for a long time and now at 53 I look forward to do well in my category again. I train at Mufakose Gym which I joined way back in 1984.

“I get a lot of support from my sponsor Eddy Fresh who helps me with supplements and guidance as a coach and instructor.

‘‘This year I have been working very hard and I look forward to come out victorious after I came out as a runner-up in the same event last year.

‘‘I am very grateful to the Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding and Fitness for introducing the senior’s category,” said Suwali.

The bodybuilder had taken a break from the sport at the turn of the millennium only to bounce back last year.

“I took a break after turning 40 and only returned to competition last year. Our national association has done really well in introducing our category.

“I also have athletes like Tendai Mukariri who has supported me a lot. I also urge the youth to take sport seriously.’’
