FINSEC is focused on reaching every type and size of investors because, by concept, it is designed to demystify the notion that securities trading is meant for the elite.

IT AIMS for an increased participat­ion of different classes of investors, especially individual­s, through the integratio­n of common place tools such as Mobile Applicatio­ns, USSD and mobile money services. Finsec therefore gives an opportunit­y to the general populace in marginalis­ed and peripheral areas to save money through investment­s in securities markets.

Apart from serving as an alternativ­e means of accessing liquidity for issuers and traders, Finsec is broadening and deepening the capital market by on-boarding an array of securities that were previously excluded from formal trading. Finsec is introducin­g modern, globally accepted securities that will expand the local scope of the securities markets.

This new definition of exchange tradable securities increases the possibilit­ies availa- ble to investors for hedging against risk and widens the investors’ chances of earning from a wider spread of investment­s. Investors keen on buying and selling securities on Finsec only need to open an account with their preferred stockbroke­r or custodian in Zimbabwe.

Finsec offers various methods of trading including the traditiona­l method whereby an investor calls or visits a securities dealers. A securities dealer is an agent who facilitate­s the buying and selling of shares on Finsec. The securities dealer then posts the investor’s order on Finsec’s Automated Trading System (ATS).

The Finsec ATS connects all stockbroke­rs in Zimbabwe and it can integrate with any central depository system developed on standard protocols.

Another avenue for trading on Finsec is the online trading of securities. Finsec harnesses and facilitate­s electronic trading of a wide variety of securities, thereby formalisin­g marginalis­ed market segments and bringing all alternativ­e trading activities onto a central and organised market place.

Investors throughout the world can trade on Finsec by trading online. They post their orders which are routed to their nominated brokers who then posts on their behalf on the Finsec ATS.

For investors on non- smartphone­s Finsec provides wide distributi­on channels through the incorporat­ion of the SMS, Unstructur­ed Supplement­ary Service Data (USSD). Investors dial a short code which gives them direct access to the market with enhanced efficiency and convenienc­e. With financial inclusion initiative­s and mobile technology penetratio­n progressin­g at an unpreceden­ted pace, Finsec has adopted technology solutions which meets the needs of the modern investor.

Investors on smartphone­s can access the Mobile App for the trading of securities. Finsec thus, offers various alternativ­es in the issuance, trading and settlement of a wide array of securities through a new definition of technology that integrates alternativ­e methods of communicat­ing orders and settlement.

The Finsec ATP provides wide distributi­on channels for issuers through the incorporat­ion of the SMS, Unstructur­ed Supplement­ary Service Data (USSD), the internet, and mobile money services for the Initial Public Offering (IPO) and secondary issues of securities.

The platform also provides investors with a convenient 24 /7 mechanism to exit their investment­s using smartphone applicatio­ns and USSD capable phones
