Congratulations to you, Cde President

- Rutendo Michelle Mthandwa, Harare.

EDITOR — I would like to congratulate the new President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

As we are entering a new era where you are the President, I pray that the Lord almighty helps you rule this country taking it to another level and improving the lives of the people.

Just like on April 18, 1980 when we gained our independence from colonial rule, today we have gained freedom again. I would like to propose that November 24 be made a public holiday because we made history on that day.

I wish you every possible success and wisdom in performing the responsibilities and duties of this position as you bring together people to work in the interest of Zimbabwe.

I know with the country in your hands we will have continued prosperity and freedom.

Zimbabwe has many close partners including South Africa, Zambia and Namibia and we hope and trust that you will establish more relations even beyond the continent for the development of our economy.

With these African countries we have a common struggle for freedom and our joint efforts to build strong, prosperous and successful societies have guided our nations for many years.

We pray that you will work closely with the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the nation as well as security of the people. Cde President, may I again offer my congratulations to you on your inauguration as the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Congratulations. Makorokoto. Amhlope!
