GWERU-BASED land developer True Destination Investments is set to construct a $30 million shopping mall at North Gate Heights Phase Two suburb of the city.

North Gate Heights is a low-density suburb under construction along the Harare-Gweru Highway and is eight kilometres outside the Central Business District.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ tour on Friday last week, True Destination Investments managing director Engineer Killian Ukama said the construction of the shopping mall set for early next year would decongest the city centre.

“We want to construct a stateof-the-art shopping mall valued at $30 million in North Gate Heights Phase Two,” he said.

“The mall construction will kick off early next year and is expected to be complete in 2019.”

Eng Ukama said the company intended to construct an international conference centre, a golf course, clinic and other facilities as a way of attracting potential investors to the city and country at large.

“The mall will provide North Gate Heights residents with basic commodities without the hustle of having to travel to the city centre,” he said.

“It will also serve other residents from all over Gweru as it will provide company offices, shopping stores and leisure centres in a convenient manner.

“Contemporary planning and designs will be strategically executed, to meet international standards.”

Eng Ukama said the project was important as it would create more than 1 000 jobs during construction and more others when businesses start to operate.

North Gate Heights Phase Two has 882 serviced residential stands, 67 commercial stands, a primary school and a secondary school.
