‘Rebel’ Bello has the last laugh

- Mukudzei Chingwere in GWERU

LABELLED a rebel for crossing the floor after leaving the country’s most decorated football club Dynamos for FC Platinum, Gift Bello has defied the odds together with his teammates in Zvishavane to be crowned champions.

All the mainstream and social media forums alike screamed Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa’s words, “he is a rebel”, when Bello moved on.

It’s something that could have demoralised him but he refused to let that destroy him as he became a pillar on which FC Platinum built their title-winning defence.

Bello, together with the impressive duo of Wallace Magallane and Kelvin Moyo, built the success of their team around a tough defence that was only breached 15 times the whole season of 34 matches.

“Winning the title is not about Gift Bello or any individual, it was a team effort, we worked very hard as a team to be where we are today,’’ said Bello.

“Like I once said it is important to win games at a critical stage of the season and you also need to believe in your capabilities that it can be done which we did as a team this season.

“You need to continue fighting till the end and I am happy the spirit among players was always positive.

“Those who said I was wrong to come here were wrong and I have been enjoying myself since I joined this club.
