Mazowe proposes $5 million budget

MAZOWE Rural District Council has proposed a $4,9 million budget for 2018, up from this year’s budget of $4,8 million.

In an interview yesterday, Mazowe community development officer Mr Joshua Mapedza Nyashanu said the council had projected to increase next year’s budget by $100 000 following the high uptake of stands in the area, which was likely to lead to more demand for service delivery.

“As you are aware, Mazowe is near the capital city, Harare, and there is a high demand for residential stands in the area.

“This has forced us as a council to consider increasing next year’s budget as we don’t want a situation where we end up compromising on service delivery,” he said.

The rural district last Friday also sold all stray stock in the area after having put a public notice announcing that all people with missing stocks should approach the local authority for identification as the council was set to auction the stocks.

Some of the livestock auctioned were a one brown blackish heifer without horns, black ox with white patches under its rear leg, medium sharp horns curving upwards, one light brown cow without horns.
