President will clean up mess

- Tokwe Mukosi, Harare.

EDITOR — The resignation of Cde Robert Mugabe and the inauguration of His Excellency Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe has raised people’s expectations.

I love my new President Cde Mnangagwa because I know he has a lot of potential to develop the economy and increase the availability of jobs for all people across the board.

I plead with the President that the new curriculum be examined and revised to make it less complicated.

Pupils should learn subjects they understand and can grasp like we used to back then. For example, children now fear going to school because of the many tasks in the new education curriculum.

On another note, looking at what the defence forces did for the nation of Zimbabwe in the past two weeks, I wish their pay could be increased as a way of appreciating the role they played in bringing about the second independence of our country.

Don’t forget the civil servants who work tirelessly for the country’s pillars to remain functional even when they are paid less and receive bonuses late.

Meanwhile, the police should conduct a combined workshop with the defence forces so that they get educated on how to work for the good of the country. They need to stop arresting people on flimsy reasons as well as shun corruption on our roads.

Also investigate corruption in the police force. As you said in your address: “I pledge to be your servant”, make us happy by wiping away all corrupt elements in the police force.

We are very optimistic and believe in your leadership. Change is what we have always prayed for and we know it has finally come because you said it all in your speech.

Congratulations. Makorokoto. Amhlophe our new President.
