Zaka youths back President

- Sydney Mubaiwa in ZAKA

THE ZANU-PF Youth League in Zaka has pledged to rally behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa after his nomination by the Central Committee as the presidential candidate for next year’s elections.

Cde Mnangagwa replaced Cde Robert Mugabe as both First Secretary of the ruling party and State President.

Masvingo Youth League’s secretary for security Cde Livison Paradza yesterday said youths in the province were solidly behind President Mnangagwa.

“We have agreed as ZANU-PF youths in Zaka that we must all join hands and support President Mnangagwa, who is the party’s presidential candidate for next year’s elections.

“We are fully behind the President and we are confident that he will take this country to the promised land,’’ said Cde Paradza.

He vowed to help the party reclaim all the council seats that were won by the opposition in the 2013 polls in order to help the party introduce pro-people policies without disruption.

Zaka Central Member of Parliament Cde Paradzai Chakona also weighed in, saying all party structures in Zaka were supposed to rally behind President Mnangagwa.

Cde Chakona called for unity, urging party members to shun divisions ahead of next year’s elections.

“President Mnangagwa has already been endorsed as the ZANU-PF First Secretary and has since been chosen as the party’s 2018 Presidential candidate. This means that we should all rally behind our President as he embarks on his crusade to rebuild Zimbabwe,’’ said Cde Chakona.

He challenged ZANU-PF leaders to work tirelessly in implementing Government programmes.

“We have less than eight months before the elections and a lot of changes have happened in the party and the Government. As such, there is need for us as the party leadership to make sure we reach to the grassroots and explain the changes that have occurred in ZANU-PF and Government to avoid confusion. The electorate should know that ZANU-PF still remains the people’s party and a party of choice,’’ said Cde Chakona.

The Zaka Central legislator challenged ZANU-PF leaders to continue encouraging people to register as voters under the new BVR system.

ZANU-PF will hold its Extraordinary Congress in Harare next month, where President Mnangagwa is expected to be endorsed as the ruling party’s Presidential candidate for the 2018 general elections.
