FCP star targets Castle Challenge

- Mukudzei Chingwere Midlands Bureau

THIS year’s Soccer Star of the Year finalist, Kelvin Moyo, is keen to cap his best season as a footballer with a gold medal of the inaugural Castle Challenge Cup when they face Harare City at Mandava tomorrow.

Moyo is basking in glory of his domestic triumph with FC Platinum after helping the club land their maiden league crown.

His individual efforts did not go unnoticed when he was voted amongst the best 11 players of the just-ended campaign.

The defender’s inclusion amongst the best players was by no means a fluke he led the miners’ defensive line with aplomb.

Their defence was only breached 15 times the whole season, which was the lowest in the league, with Moyo the mainstay of that department.

The Bantu Rovers academy graduate said they are pulling all the stops at training to make sure they end the season on a positive note.

“We are very happy that we managed to win the title and everybody is happy here that we managed to win the title,’’ he told The Herald.

‘’We worked very hard as a team the whole season and we are happy that we have been finally rewarded with the title.

“We want to win this trophy and be the first champion of this trophy. We will do our best to end the season on a positive note, we do not want to spoil the party.

‘’We are preparing very well for this game and we are confident it might be done.

“I am happy for being selected as one of the best 11 players in the country but I do not want to talk much about my performance, I will leave others to judge.

“It has been a very good week for us at the club and we just want to end on a positive note. We are training hard and no one is getting carried away that we are the champions because for us the season will end after the Harare City game.’’

Coach Norman Mapeza was also singing from the same hymn book with his defender saying they also want to end the season on a positive note.

“We want to end the season on a positive note and we will do our best,’’ said Mapeza.
