Zarts Festival preps gather momentum

PREPARATIO­NS for the inaugural Zimbabwe Arts Festival (Zarts), an event that seeks to promote local talent set for December 8 and 9 at Alexandra Sports Club are at an advanced stage, organisers have said.

The two day arts fete is a Bumris Entertainm­ent product designed to promote and elevate all Zimbabwean talent in the arts sector.

In an interview with the founding director of the festival Rumbidzai Mudenge said preparatio­ns were at an advanced stage.

“We are happy with the progress that we have made so far. We we got an overwhelmi­ng response of people who are interestin­g in participat­ing at the event but we had to cut the numbers.

“Almost everything is in place and all the participan­ts have been busy perfecting their acts and we can’t wait for the event,” she said.

Quite a number of entertaini­ng programmes have been lined up to accommodat­e everyone during the two-day event.

“During the extravagan­za we will hold workshops in dance, music and art from morning.

‘‘There will be zumba classes, painting lessons, gospel hour, martial arts exhibitors, poetry and Dj Slams.

In order to cater for families and children there will be exquisite performanc­es throughout the day.

Zimbabwe’s finest musicians among them Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Sulumani Chimbetu, Ammara Brown, SoulJah Love, Ex Q, Trevor Dongo, Mbira Dzenharira will be among 30 establishe­d and upcoming artistes who will take turns to entertain fans.

On the decks will be top prominent djs namely Dj Stavo, Dj Tamuka and the Judgement Yard. Mudenge said on the opening day will be a special fashion show.

She urged people to buy tickets and come to enjoy Zimbabwe’s refined talent.
