Embrace new minister: Matiza
ZANU-PF Mashonaland East provincial chairman Cde Joel Biggie Matiza yesterday urged party members to welcome the newly-appointed Minister of State Cde David Musabayana and support him as he executes his duties.
Addressing party members during a ZANU-PF Provincial Conference at Mbuya Nehanda Hall in Marondera, Cde Matiza said the new minister had 100 days to show his worth and needed the support of the party.
“Let’s respect our new Minister of State,” he said. “He has 100 days to perform, but he can’t do that without our support. As ZANU-PF we have to work hand in hand with the Government so that we come up with positive results.
“We should also work together to mobilise our members to vote in numbers, in preparation for the 2018 harmonised elections.”
Cde Matiza urged party members to unite and promised that he would be visiting all districts to ensure that ZANU-PF remained intact.
“We need unity within the party and I am going to move around all the districts to see what is really going on,” he said.
“We are totally behind what the Zimbabwe Defence Forces did, that is to restore legacy and remove all the elements that were causing divisions within the party. I urge you all to remain focused and join hands so that our party remains strong.
“The party had been destroyed by the G40 cabal, which tried to destroy the legacy of ZANU-PF. The former President had been surrounded by criminals who were corrupt. The Zimbabwe Defence Forces intruded because they realised that the country’s security had been threatened.”
Former Defence Minister Dr Sydney Sekeramayi urged party members to unite and create a strong party.
“As ZANU-PF, we should stay strong and avoid the purging of members like what the G40 cabal was doing,” he said. The party is now being built in solidarity.
“As Mash East, we are going to the Extraordinary Congress to endorse our President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the President and First Secretary of ZANU-PF.”
Cde Sekeramayi urged Cde Musabayana and Cde Matiza to work hand in hand since Government and ZANU-PF were inseparable.
Dignitaries who graced the conference included former Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Cde Edgar Mbwembwe and former Transport and Infrastructure Development Deputy Minister Cde Michael Madanha.
