God will surprise you

-

Isaiah 55 vs 8

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord.”

Someone told me an extraordinary story that I thought I should share. Sometimes we think the LORD has abandoned us and during those times we wonder what will happen next, and whether His silence means we have come to the end of the road. But as painful as it may be, the LORD always knows what’s best.

A mining project manager was placed under the supervision of a very abusive client who, for the duration of the project shouted at him without warrant. He would invite him to appointments in distant cities on a Sunday and he would not bother to attend. Better still, he would always complain to his immediate boss about how useless his subordinate was. For the entirety of the project the manager felt abused, but he would always be gracious, regardless of how brutal and intense the interactions would get. As fate would have it soon after the successful completion of this project, he was retrenched. For the next 18 months he sat jobless at home, questioning whether the LORD had totally abandoned him.

At his most desperate point his life began to fall apart due to a lack of income. As is usually the case when you are in trouble, friends became few. In the midst of all this he received what would be a life-changing call on his cellphone. On the other side of the phone was the man who had abused him all those years ago. The conversation that followed was even more shocking, “would you be interested in coming to work for me? I know you are currently unemployed, but the truth is I am the one who needs your help. You are the best project manager I have ever worked with, I need you.” To his surprise the abusive client had become a Christian. Soon after the manager went back to work, the client would start every meeting with a prayer. He had totally changed.

Be blessed.
