New provincial offices for Zanu-PF
ZANU-PF Mashonaland West Province plans to build new state-of-the-art provincial party offices in Chinhoyi to herald a new era for the party in the province.
The party had been using makeshift structure as its offices to serve the province, but land for the new building has been identified adjacent to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
Provincial chairperson Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi yesterday could not be drawn into giving details pertaining to the latest developments, saying it was still premature.
“It is too early to comment as we are yet to sit and deliberate with the provincial executive,” he said.
“However, we have always had the plans since 2013, but due to certain developments that occurred in the party, the project was put on hold. We had proposed to construct a centre in the provincial capital Chinhoyi, adjacent to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.”
Sources in the ruling party expressed optimism that the project will start early next year.
“The construction of the building is expected to commence next year,” said a source.
“The suspensions of Cde (Ziyambi) Ziyambi and other provincial party members, including finance secretary Cde Dexter Nduna, who is said to be among the people masterminding the project, threatened its implementation.”
The source said there were local prospective sponsors who had expressed interest in the construction of the new party offices.
“There is a local firm that had initially pledged to donate thousands of bricks towards the construction of the new party offices,” said the source.
“Since the plan had been delayed, I cannot give exact figures of the funds to be channelled towards the project, but one thing for sure is that it is going to be one of the biggest projects in the province.”
