GOOD Shepherd Children’s Home in Chinhoyi is appealing for at least $1 700 to pay school fees for 16 children under its care, who were enrolled at Nemakonde High School for Form One next year.

In an interview, The Good Shepherd Children’s Home board chairperson, Pastor Eshwin Makozho, said the home is seeking help from well-wishers who can assist.

He said the home depends on donors, who usually provide help in kind, but other needs such as school fees that require monetary support remain a challenge.

“We have 16 children who finished Grade Seven at Chinhoyi Primary School, and they will attain their secondary education at Nemakonde High School, but the challenge is we have not yet raised enough funds for their school fees, levy and uniforms,” he said.

“Some volunteers have so far helped us with a few uniforms. Some organisations usually help us with foodstuffs and clothes. Chinhoyi Mayor Test Michaels will be handing some groceries for the home. We appreciate that a lot because the groceries will sustain us to mid-year. We are also asking favours from members of society, who can help us with some funds to cater for money demanding needs such as school fees.”

Pastor Makozho said the home is also asking for help to support the welfare of a twoyear-old infant at the home who has health challenges.

The Affirmative Action Group Women’s Desk Makonde District on Saturday donated groceries worth $125.

The group also pledged to cater for some of the home’s needs which includes providing a television set for the boys dormitory, Dstv monthly subscription, girls sanitary pads and underwear.
