AFRICA Union Sports Council and National Darts Association of Zimbabwe president Maynard Moyo has expressed gratitude for being re-elected president of the association and called for total aggression in terms of marketing the sport in the country.

Moyo, who was elevated as the new president of the African Union Sports Council Region Five Darts Confederation during the region’s junior darts tournament held at Dinwiddie Sports Complex in Germiston, South Africa in March said he is hopeful of continuing to serve the association well.

Before his election, Moyo had served as the secretary-general for the then ZONE VI for the past five years, but managed to help Zimbabwe to secure three posts in this year’s elections.

“I wish to express my gratitude to you all for electing me and the new executive into office. I want to thank you for having trust and confidence in me and the new executive and I take it as a vote of confidence.

“I believe this is a journey which will take us to the next level. It’s a journey which is not going to be a walk in the park, hence the need for each and every one of us to play our part.

“We promise to perform the mandate you gave us, to the best of our abilities, through your guidance and advice,” said Moyo. The veteran administrator will have countrymen and NDAZ treasurer Steven Mwarindira as competitions manager and had a word for Africa World Championships representative South Africa. “We wish to thank South Africa for representing us at the World Darts Championships in Japan they are the star of the region and the continent.

“There is need to remove perceptions which are attached to our game, by avoiding that which caused the perceptions in the first place. As leaders we need to lead by example.

“It has been difficult for all member countries financially but I appreciate and commend the effort you are putting out there to develop the game,” Moyo said.
