Charity begins at home

-

1 Timothy 5 vs 8

“But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

I recently attended a funeral where all the siblings of the deceased spoke with fondness about the family member they had just lost. They spoke with warmth about the pleasant memories, the moments shared, and the love that centred their relationship. Often we only do and say good things when those close to us have departed. We sometimes forget that we must affirm and do our best when we are still together and we need to go a step further by practicing charity within the confines of our immediate family.

GOD created family for a reason; He intended for families to help each other, support each other, and stand together. Charity begins at home, we must make a concerted effort to be good to all our family members because GOD intended it that way. Before we save the world, we have to save our family members.

When we depart from this world, may our friends and family testify that the LORD guided us to be good to our family members. Like my friend’s family, may your loved ones have nothing, but great memories of the moments you shared and may they bear testimony to the fact that you were truly a great person.

Be blessed.
