Strengthen party structures, Zanu-PF members told
ZANU-PF members in Mashonaland West have been urged to form strong party structures to ensure a resounding win for the ruling party’s Presidential candidate Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa in elections this year.
Addressing an inter-district meeting for Zvimba North and Zvimba South constituencies in Banket on Wednesday, the party’s provincial political commissar, Cde Simon Solomon, urged members of the party to remain united ahead of the elections. He said restructuring the cells would strengthen the party.
“The party’s strength lies in the strong structures from the cells right up to the top leadership of ZANU-PF,” said Cde Solomon.
“Let us promote unity among ourselves by restructuring our party. We should not allow even a single loophole to divide us.”
Cde Solomon cautioned some party members that were already canvassing for votes ahead of primary elections.
“Stop campaigning for anyone at this juncture,” he said. “This is creating unnecessary infighting among yourselves. Primary elections should be done peacefully and there will be guidelines on how they are going to be conducted.
“At the moment, we are all campaigning for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is going to stand as our Presidential candidate.”
The provincial secretary for administration, Cde Simba Ziyambi, urged party leaders to shun violence before, during and after elections.
He also urged all the party members to unite for the benefit of the party.
Cde Ziyambi said the party should not go into the forthcoming elections divided.
“This is not the time to take sides,” he said. “The party was once divided by some few corrupt leaders, but I hope you all agree with me that everything has now come to normalcy.”
