Manyowa to release new album
AFRO-gospel musician Elizabeth Manyowa is set to release her fourth album titled “Mazuva Okuipa” this month after taking a nine-year break from music.
The “Tsvakai Mwari” hitmaker said she is happy to be back with new music after taking a break to focus on motherhood as well as other commitments.
“I had taken a break to focus on raising my boy as well as my other job as a diplomatic secretary. It is good to be back again and I cannot wait for people to hear my new music,” she said.
Manyowa said her six-track album was inspired by the word of God. “I was meditating the word of God from Mathew 24. I realized we are living in such days of much iniquity where humankind is even marrying animals for a husband/wife. Hunger is everywhere and a lot of evil is happening around the world. All that made me to name my album Mazuva Okuipa,” she said.
The album has songs “Tsvakai Jehova”, “Namazuva okuipa”, “When times are bad”, “Ndauya”, “Vakatsungirira” and Nzvimbo Yomweya”. Manyowa said she decided to re-record some of her previous songs for this album to improve them.
“I felt “Ndauya” did not make the right impact despite being a very good song. I realised the song may not have been done properly in terms of engineering and all and that has been sorted this time. Another song I am redoing is “Tsvakai Jehova” because I feel I did not do justice to it in terms of marketing. Also technology was backward then so I decided to re-record it to be a 2018 song that people will love,” she said.
Manyowa has received mentorship from gospel veterans Carol Mujokoro and Ivy Kombo and has worked with Rumbie Zhirikudze on this album. “I have had voice grooming by Pastor Carol Mujokoro as well as Ivy Kombo. On this album I collaborated with Rumbie Zvirikuzhe of the ‘Huya Mweya Mutsvene’ hit on a song titled Ndauya,” she said.
Manyowa said she is looking forward to having a successful launch on a date to be announced and promised fans a great album. “I am still finalising the date and venue of the album launch but what I can promise gospel fans is that this is going to be an amazing album. I pray you will love it as much as I do.”
