Youth League to launch ED campaign
THE Zanu-PF Youth League in the Midlands Province will launch the #EDhasMyVote campaign this week to drum up support for President Mnangagwa ahead of the harmonised elections later this year.
The national campaign, which was launched at national level in Harare last month, focuses on mobilising youths for the forthcoming elections.
It has already been launched in Mashonaland West and Harare provinces.
The party’s Midlands provincial youth chairperson, Cde Edmore Samambwa, said they had set March 8 as the day for the historic occasion for the province.
“We are launching the #EDhasMyVote campaign on Thursday March 8 as the revolutionary party oils its election campaign machinery,” he said.
“The stage has been set for this historic occasion, which will be held at the party’s Winery Conference Centre in Gweru.”
Cde Samambwa said some provinces had already launched the campaign.
“Our aim is to encourage youths within our province to be part and parcel of the voting process,” he said. “They must exercise their constitutional right and vote for President Mnangagwa and the ruling Zanu-PF. We urge everyone to rally behind our President and ensure that he wins resoundingly.”
Cde Samambwa said all the youths from the province should be part of the campaign so that the ruling party trounces the opposition come July.
Provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said all the party structures would be there to support the youth launch the important membership mobilisation programme.
Cde Ncube said Midlands Province was now joining other provinces, which had already launched the campaign strategy.
“Mass mobilisation is very critical for the party ahead of the harmonised elections and we don’t want to leave any stone unturned,” he said. “We want to vote in thousands.”
Eng Ncube said more than 700 000 people had registered to vote in the province.
