MP Katsiru assures residents over stands

- Victor Maphosa Mashonaland East Correspondent

MARONDERA Central legislator Lawrence Katsiru has assured residents who paid for residential stands to Marondera City Council that they will get their stands soon.

Addressing residents in Marondera last week, Cde Katsiru said the new dispensation under President Mnangagwa will not tolerate anyone who abuses his office, including those who fail to deliver as per expectations.

“Due to what was happening politically, most of you did not get your stands, which you had paid for, but let me assure you, those stands are there, they are genuine and they will be given to you,” he said.

“Our President will never tolerate it that people pay for the stands and never get them.”

Cde Katsiru asked the cheerful crowd to help him finish his term as their representative on a good note.

“I am still your MP, Parliament has not yet dissolved, so I am still here to work hard and proceed working hard; so rest assured, and you will get your stands. So, let no one stand in my way as I finish my term of office,” he said.

Cde Katsiru explained how the Constituency Development Fund (CDG) was used.

“I once told you that we were given money for CDF, while the funds were still not yet released to us, some of you were saying the money was released and I converted it to my own use - that was not true at all,” he said.

“Let me tell you that those funds were released later to us and together with the committee that you assigned to me, we decided to direct the funds to schools in our constituency, where various projects needed our attention.”

Cde Katsiru said the developments that took place at various schools in Marondera were as a result of the fund.

Dombotombo Primary School, for example, was assisted in building a new ECD block.

Each school in Marondera Central, Cde Katsiru said, benefited from the CDF.
