- Herald Correspondent

THE Zimpapers Group has made some new appointments, as the growing diversified media group seeks to consolidate its position as a market leader in content generation and provision.

The group is known as a content hub, which packages and provides content across its multiple platforms inclusive of 13 newspaper titles, radio stations, digital platforms and television.

In a statement yesterday, Zimpapers spokesperson Ms Beatrice Tonhodzayi announced the appointment of a popular, talented and versatile communications practitioner and talk show host Ms Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa to the post of Projects Manager for the Radio Broadcasting Division, as well as the appointment of advertising guru Mr Simon Mapuranga to the post of general manager for Bold Ads.

Under the new portfolio, Ms Ruvheneko will be overseeing projects for the division’s radio stations, namely Star FM and Diamond FM.

Due to the management agreement between Kingston’s Holdings and Zimpapers, which has seen the latter managing Nyaminyami FM in Kariba and Capitalk FM in Harare on behalf of Kingston’s, Ms Parirenyatwa will also be overseeing projects at the two stations.

Mr Mapuranga’s appointment is expected to lead to the revival of Bold Ads, the group’s company well known for its production of telephone directories in the past.

“We are expecting to see exciting things happening both at the Radio Division and at Bold Ads,” said Ms Tonhodzayi.

“Zimpapers is a business that does not believe in complacency. The company’s leadership is constantly thinking of new ideas and strategies to keep the business relevant and profitable, hence new skills, faces and changes are something that we shall be seeing a lot more as we move on.”

Ms Parirenyatwa, who studied journalism at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, hosts her talk show “Ruvheneko” on Star FM Zimbabwe on Mondays at 7pm, Capitalk 100.4 FM on Wednesdays at 7pm and on her online TV platform every Thursday at 7pm.

A former programming manager of ZiFM Stereo, also worked for the African Leadership Network in Johannesburg and GQ Magazine in Cape Town.

Mr Mapuranga is an advertising professional who is driven by ideas that bring brands to life. He started off as a copywriter, gravitating towards strategy in later years. He has worked in telecomms, beverages and financial institutions in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Namibia.

“Zimpapers Group wishes the two well in their new positions,” said Ms Tonhodzayi.
