Pote scoops Megafest Businessman of year award

ZVISHAVANE-BASED Pote Holdings is consolidating its position as one of the country’s fastest growing businesses by registering its footprint in different sectors of the economy.

The diversified company has so far managed to transform the Midlands town of Zvishavane through employment creation and service provision.

Pote Holdings director Clever Pote, added icing on the cake by scooping the Megafest Businessman of the Year award recently.

Pote Holdings, which is also headquartered in Zvishavane, has business concerns in Gweru, Mberengwa, Chiredzi, Masvingo, Kwekwe, Chivi and Chivhu among other areas.

The company operates a state of the art hotel, Pote Hill Hotel in Zvishavane.

The hotel is a 46 roomed-state-of art-hotel and conference centre that has attracted a large share of visitors in Zvishavane coming from various corners of the world.

Tamson Mtombeni, told The Herald Business that the group also boasts of a viable transport division that ply routes in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

“The transport section is reliable. We also do business in borehole drilling countrywide. The company has strength in the diversity of its business portfolios that includes supermarkets, wholesales, gold mines and gold ore milling,” said Mr Mtombeni.

Red Granite Milling is another division of the Pote Holdings group, its core business being gold milling.

Located less than 30km out of Zvishavane along the Zvishavane-Mbalambala Road, the company provides milling services to miners from Mberengwa, Buchwa and other surrounding areas. With nine stamp mills and a high pressure boiler installed, Red Granite offers fast and efficient services to its clients.

Pote Holdings owns four supermarkets, three in Zvishavane town trading as Pote Central, Pote Lucky 7, Pote Machipisa and one in Shurugwi.

The group also has two wholesale branches that supply goods to retailers in Midlands and Masvingo provinces.

The groceries department has three counter shops around Zvishavane.

Pote Holdings also own six hardware and kitchenware shops in Zvishavane Town, Mandava Township, Shurugwi and Gweru all trading as Pote Hardware.
