Abra Simz readies first album

OUTSPOKEN producer and DJ Abra Simz (pictured left), born Simukai Garikai Mandizvidz­a, who has been known for bringing and collaborat­ing with some of the biggest Jamaican artists has announced that he will be releasing his first album titled “Rise Up and Live Well”.

Simz said the album is a narrative release telling Zimbabwean and African stories.

“The album tittle is a translatio­n of my names Simukai and Garikai. There are topics addressed and discussed in this project, focusing on how they play a role in our communitie­s.

“As an individual, I strongly feel and believe that music has the power to influence, inspire and change the community in a positive way,” he said.

The album will bring several artists together from various background­s and genres, such as Rnb, Gospel, hip hop, dancehall and house to form a unique story that will inspire the hearts of many in a compilatio­n of 15 tracks.

“The album will feature tracks from Tocky Vybz, Red Rat, Takura, Nox, Maskiri, Andy Muridzo, Legend Killer, Ninja kid, Crooger, Jahnoz, Ronixx, Jr Tatenda, Maggikal, Praise Patterson, and a couple surprise acts,” said Simz

He said these artists will explore issues such as love life, family, social classes and life experience­s especially

those applicable to a Zimbabwean setup.

The album single titled “Phases” features Maggikal, Seamie and Nox Guni and it will be released this month.

“Phases focuses on life phases particular­ly in my life and what I have learned. It captures the heart of the listeners’ and fuels various emotions from their past experience­s,” said Simz.

He said the album launch will be in Harare and he will be announcing the date and venue soon.
