Campus Concert set to rock Masvingo today

- From George Maponga in MASVINGO

ALL roads today lead to the home of entertainment in Masvingo — the Caravan Park — where one of the country’s biggest mobile phone network operators, NetOne, will be hosting a OneFusion party that will be headlined by top dancehall singer Winky D.

The show dubbed, “Campus Concert’’ will kick-off at 7pm today.

Jah Signal, Masvingo-born dancehall proponent Ras Caleb and Judgement Yard are leading a cast of other top entertainers billed to grace the show.

Caravan Park is expected to fill to the brim with students from universities and colleges from in and around Masvingo, who are set to get a special treat from NetOne as they will only have to buy a OneFusion recharge card worth $3 to gain entry.

Non-students will have to buy a OneFusion recharge card worth $5 as their ticket into the show.

NetOne marketing and public relations executive Dr Eldrette Shereni said the One Fusion Campus party was coming to Masvingo as a way of appreciating the youth segment of the firm’s customers.

She said the Caravan Park show was aimed at affording students, from the Great Zimbabwe University, Masvingo Polytechnic, Reformed Church University, Midlands State University Zvishavane Campus; Bondolfi and Morgenster Teachers’ Colleges, an opportunity to have fun courtesy of NetOne.

“The campus party is our way of appreciating our youth customer segment by allowing them to have a party on us by simply buying OneFusion $3 (for students) and OneFusion $5 recharge card (for non-students) as their ticket into the concert.’’

“So essentially they get to enjoy Winky D, Judgement Yard, Jah Signal as well as their OneFusion package and get exclusive access to this jam-packed One Fusion Party,’’ Dr Shereni said.

The NetOne marketing and public relations head said her company had already held highly successful OneFusion campus parties at other universities such as Chinhoyi University of Technology and Midlands State University.

College and university students who spoke to The Herald yesterday hailed NetOne for conceiving the OneFusion campus party.

Leeroy Dzenga, a final year GZU student said students in Masvingo were looking forward to the show in terms of both entertainment and access to communication.

“What NetOne has done is really exciting because it is giving students more options in terms of both entertainment and access to data, WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter through the OneFusion recharge cards that we will buy to get into the show,’’ he said.

Another student Mufaro Musemburi from Masvingo Polytechnic said besides enjoying Winky D, the OneFusion concert will make it easier for resource-strained students to have fun and at the same time leaving them with a handy communication package.

“As you know, students are always short on resources, but here there is an opportunity for me to get into a Winky D’s show at the cost of buying a OneFusion recharge card that I will use again. It’s really exciting,’’ he said.

OneFusion is NetOne’s all-in-one package that gives subscribers the most voice calls, data, SMS and social media access at an affordable price and has become very popular with students and other discerning Zimbabweans.
