MDC-T CVs saga exposed

- Mashonaland Central Bureau

FOUR aspiring MDC-T candidates have accused the party’s Mashonaland Central leadership of tampering with their Curricula Vitae to get them disqualified.

Ericka Mugona, Fanuel Chigonero, Stanford Chiwara and Skinner Chimusisi are vying for Mazowe North Constituency and are accusing provincial youth chairman Mr Tonderai Samhu of tampering with their CVs.

“As aspiring candidates we are disgruntled with the party’s leadership after it emerged that our CVs which we had submitted at Harvest House had missing pages,” said Chiwara.

“We suspect that it was Samhu who is doing this.”

Chiwara alleged that Mr Samhu was pushing for his close allies, Mr Night Ngirazi and Mr Isaac Wachi to be considered as candidates ahead of other deserving members.

Aspiring Ward 28 councillor, Mr Skinner Chimusisi also had bitter words for Mr Samhu.

“I have served in the party since time immemorial, but I am disappointed that my CV was tampered with by a colleague and this is disheartening,” said Mr Chimusisi.

Mr Samhu dismissed the allegations and said it was the work of a few individuals who wanted to bring the name of the party into disrepute.

“I was not part of the process of submitting CVs to Harare,” he said.

“There is no way I could have tampered with them.”

Mr Samhu is reportedly fighting tooth and nail to win the 2018 election despite having lost in 2008 and 2013 elections.

MDC-T provincial spokesperson, Mr Isaac Mupinyuri, said they would investigate the issue.

“I am not aware of the issue,” he said.

“However, if I get the names of the candidates with such allegations we can look into it and furnish you with the details thereafter.”
