KWEKWE Central legislator Cde Masango Matambanadzo has appealed to the Zanu-PF National Disciplinary Committee against the decision by the Midlands provincial executive to suspend and disqualify him from participating in the Zanu-PF primary elections scheduled for May 5.

Other party cadres with pending cases Cdes Chiratidzo Mabuwa, Tafanana Zhou and Fred Moyo, who were linked ONE of the country’s leading commercial banks, CBZ is set to open a new branch in Shurugwi as it seeks to increase its clientèle base.

Shurugwi town secretary Mr Solomon Siziba said the bank was expected to open the branch in the mining town soon.

He said the move was welcome as it was a crucial step towards the growth of the town as it sought to achieve municipal status by 2020.

In an interview on Wednesday, Cde Matambanadzo said he felt that he was being treated unfairly, hence his decision to appeal to the national disciplinary committee.

He said he was confident he would get the greenlight to contest the primaries.

“I was the only sitting MP in the Midlands Province to have my CV rejected,” he said.

“I just feel there is no justice in the manner that my case is being handled, that is if I have a case to answer in the first place. I have a feeling that there are people who are holding grudges against me and this is why I have decided to appeal.”

Cde Matambanadzo said there were efforts to scuttle his chance of retaining the seat and force him to stand as an independent, which he would not do.

“The President is on record saying we should let bygones be bygones, but it seems there are some people who still have an axe to grind with me,” he said.

“I will continue to work for the party. I have no case and I hope and pray the national disciplinary committee will deliver its verdict soon.”

Zanu-PF provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri said Cde Matambanadzo’s suspension was above board.

“His suspension was done above board and all the procedures were followed,” he said.

“The provincial executive only sent a recommendation to the national headquarters.” facilitating the opening of the bank’s branch.

“We will assist them in every way possible as we feel there is an urgent need for another bank in Shurugwi,” he said.

“Our duty as the council is to make sure that investors get the much needed assistance for the growth our town.”

Mr Siziba said one of the largest supermarkets, Pick n Pay, was also set to open doors in Shurugwi.

He said council recently held a meeting with the supermarket management when they were exploring investment opportunities in the mining town.
